OVERVIEW

Cliff Beach House is a new private house rental, offering some of the most luxurious, contemporary-styled accommodation in Ireland. This modern, architect-designed home is located in scenic Ardmore Bay on the southeast coast, set above rolling Atlantic waters. The striking six-bedroom villa is finished to the highest level, with spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the Irish skies, village and cliffside views. Designed for groups of friends or multigenerational families looking for an exceptional immersive experience with all modern comforts and facilities.

Created by the experienced Irish hotelier family behind the acclaimed Cliff House Hotel, Cliff at Lyons and Cliff Townhouse, the house offers award-winning service, including access to multi-Michelin-starred chefs from the nearby luxury hotel.

A dedicated House Host can arrange bespoke cultural trips, nature and wildlife adventures and zero-km cooking classes: opening up this region’s rich literature, art, music and culinary traditions in the most genuine and heartfelt ways. High-pitched ceilings in the dining room and two living rooms open up through floor-to-ceiling glass to this private rental’s long stone patio. Paths lead out through naturalistic gardens planted with sea air-loving shrubs, and then slip down into the village, and the heart of the arty, local community. Beside the kitchen, there is a sun-bowl which catches the last of the rays and an outdoor hot tub on the terrace provides a dramatic, warming counterpoint to the great outdoors.

Ardmore is one of Ireland’s prettiest fishing villages, with soft sand beaches and relics history from 400 AD on the doorstep. Opening up the southern Ireland region to you is part of the Cliff Beach House experience. With our expert house host on call to you throughout your stay to direct you towards activities suitable for rain, sun, culture, children or the actively inclined.

This includes exploring Ardmore with its sandy beach, traditional music and thatched cottages. Youghal, at the mouth of the River Blackwater just 15 minutes away, is one of the best examples of a Norman walled port in Ireland. Nearby Dungarvan is a thriving seaside market town, and pretty Lismore – dominated by the castle – is possibly one of the country’s quaintest villages.

  • The Ardmore Cliff Walk loops five kilometres around the village, passing local landmarks including the twelfth-century cathedral. Sweeping sea views offer a lookout point for sea otters, dolphins and whales, as well as birdlife including peregrine falcons. Foraging expeditions and guided hikes along the coastline can be arranged with chefs, historians and walking experts.
  • The Well by the Sea — a one-minute walk away, this award-winning spa has a heated indoor swimming pool with sea-views, four treatment rooms, a sauna and a steam room. A full range of treatments is available, from facials and massages using bespoke botanical products, to peat and seaweed bathing therapies. A natural outdoor rock pool appears at low tide, ideal for cold-water immersion.
  • The Cliff House Hotel is only a one-minute walk away from the Beach House, offering the chance to dine on a tasting menu from the Cliff House Hotel’s Michelin-starred House Restaurant, with wine pairings provided by the hotel’s cellar. The award-winning Irish cuisine uses produce grown on Irish land and fished from Irish seas
  • Venture out with the Cliff’s enthusiastic local forager, Andrew Malcolm, who leads walks into the surrounding woods and fields, teaching visitors how to find, identify, prepare and eat the edible fruits, nuts and wild mushrooms which are native to Ireland
  • Take part in a cookery class at The Tannery in Dungarvan – only a short drive away – and learn how to create the perfect dishes for a dinner party or master sublime sea-food

  • Visit the West Waterford Festival of Food which takes place in April for foraging trails, bus tours, cooking classes, dining experiences and food markets

  • Wild Hiking is one of the region’s main lures, especially the 7.5-kilometre walk around Coumshinghuan, overlooking the surrounding mountains and a glacier-formed lake. The Mahon Falls is another popular hike, while the Vee Pass in the Knockmealdown Mountains offers breath-taking views over Ireland’s ‘Golden Vale’
  • Ireland’s Camino Trail – the 100km ancient path of St. Declan’s Way is very much a journey back in time linking the ecclesiastical centres of Ardmore and Cashel, Co. Tipperary. Staying in Cliff Beach House and complete this 5–7 day fully guided walking tour full of pilgrim paths, scenic trails, celtic song and ancient castles.
  • Field Sports, including shooting, hunting and fishing. Some of Ireland’s best salmon fly-fishing can be found near Ardmore. Sea fishing off the pier close-by or in the bay provide rich pickings. Children love to go crabbing with buckets. Irish horses are admired all over the world for their endurance, making a day’s hunting a thrilling experience for horse-riders. Shooting parties can be accommodated at local estates
  • Experience the rich musical traditions of this region within the private space of this Irish home from home. With a grand piano in the main sitting room, Cliff Beach House makes an intimate venue for recitals and performances. Ireland’s most significant talent, acclaimed singers, and traditional Irish music as it is still practised and enjoyed by the local Gaelic speaking community can be arranged
  • Enrichment and learning…Ardmore has long inspired painters, potters, poets and writers.
