OVERVIEW

Gleneagles’ opulent country house style architecture is typical of the time it was conceived in – the era of the grand hotels. Designed to provide a luxurious summer retreat for Britain’s high society, offering golfing, shooting and a whole host of fashionable pursuits. Since the 1920s it has evolved and now remains open all-year-round, but its commitment to excellence remains the same as that first day it opened.

The lodgings are designed to be as glorious as the landscape that surrounds it. With 232 luxury bedrooms and a further 26 suites there is something to suit every taste from the traditional to the modern, from the intimate to the spacious. Each comes with its own unique style and design, featuring specially selected paintings, books and furniture as well as all the modern amenities the 21st century requires.

World-class dining is on offer on site. From Michelin-starred fare to hearty Franco-Scottish fusion offerings, Gleneagles bars also offer the perfect spot to unwind in the evening with a drink in hand.

Gleneagles is as famous for its country pursuits as it is for its hospitality. Golf is by far its most famous and most popular offering. But a host of other activities are available on site such as off-road driving, falconry, horse riding and fishing.

ACCOMMODATION

Country Room

Glenagles’ cosiest offering, these rooms are full of typical Scottish country charm. Available in either King or Twin layouts, after a day of exploring the Scottish wilderness, there is nothing more perfect than retreating to these sumptuous beds, which come with personalised pillows.

Manor Room

These elegant rooms come in two layouts; generously-sized inner facing rooms, or slightly smaller options with beautiful views of the estate. They have been furnished with true Scottish luxury in mind and feature beautiful furnishings and indulgent fabrics.

Estate Room

Each recently renovated Estate Room is unique. Estate Rooms in the Braid House feature their own fireplace and extra-large bathrooms and many come with a balcony for the ultimate view. Those in the Main House are full of period design and features from ornate carvings to high ceilings.

Estate Suite

These suites aim to provide a luxurious home from home. With a beautifully finished separate sitting rooms and dining areas, these are the hotel’s most accessible suites. Enjoy stunning views of the Perthshire countryside.

Whisky Suite

Each individually designed suite is a tasteful combination of character and tradition. The sizeable living area is perfect for post-dinner drinks and entertaining. They are complemented by lavish bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms.

Spirit Suite

These two-bedroom suites are intimate and exclusive with a heavenly location on the top floor of the hotel. The grand interiors capture the true heart of Gleneagles heritage in effortless style.

Blue Tower Suite

Located within the hotel’s original tower and overlooking the grand entrance, this suite is a truly unique and special place to spend your trip. Situated over two floors, the suite features an elegant library and sitting room at the top.

Royal Lochnagar Suite

The most luxurious and beautiful suite available, this suite is opulent and sumptuous down to the smallest detail. They offer an exceptional sense of space with several rooms and the grandeur is completed by a canopy-dress four poster bed.

DINING

The range of dining options at Gleneagles offer some of the best fine dining in Scotland. Booking a table at Andrew Fairlie is a must – as it is the only restaurant in Scotland to hold two Michelin stars. On other evenings you may wish to experience classic silver service in The Strathearn or a more relaxed bistro setting in The Birnam Brasserie. A cocktail in the intimate American Bar or a dram of whisky at The Century Bar is the perfect way to end the day.

ACTIVITIES

Gleneagles’ excellent offering of country pursuits has always formed part of its allure. There is plenty on offer for guests of all ages, abilities and interests. Any way you like to fill your days, Gleneagles can easily accommodate.

Animal lovers can set off on a day of horse back riding, or marvel at the intelligence of the Labradors at the Gundog School, or experience the ‘sport of kings’, falconry.

The options are endless with off-road Land Rover driving, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, canoeing, tennis and archery also available.

Gleneagles also boasts the top destination spa in the country. For those who want a break from their daily routine, The Spa by ESPA offers a range of treatments designed to help you rest, relax and rejuvenate as well as state-of-the-art facilities. There is also a health club and a hair and beauty lodge for those looking to freshen up and pamper themselves.

GOLF

Gleneagles was designed with golfing in mind. And true to its founding ethos, it has become its premier attraction and draw.

The courses are hallowed ground for golf lovers from across the world. With three Championship courses and the PGA National Golf Academy, Gleneagles hosts a calendar full of events each year and has previously held a number of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. It is the only venue in Europe to have hosted both the Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup.

Golf is available all year round to both hotel guests and visitors alike.

FAMILY

Gleneagles whole-heartedly believes in the motto, “Whatever an adult can do, a child can do too”. Its luxury reputation is not compromised when it comes to looking after their smallest and youngest guests.

For children between the ages of two and nine, the Little Glen is a vibrant and colourful creche which offers a safe and fun environment that they let their imaginations run wild in.

For older children between the ages of six and fifteen, The Den is an unsupervised facility with a number of rooms containing video games, arts and crafts, pool, air hockey and traditional games like Checkers and Dominoes. The Den’s comfy cinema room has regular film screenings to keep younger guests entertained all day.

Additionally many of Gleneagles’ vast range of outdoor activities and country pursuits are available for most ages. Children as young as three can try their hand on horse riding on the stables’ Shetland Ponies or golf on the Pitch ‘N’ Putt course adjacent to the main course. Older children and teenagers can try something more unusual such as junior off-road driving, air rifle shooting and falconry.
