Day One: Arrival in Inverness

On arrival in to Inverness Airport, you will be greeted by your experienced Dream Escape curator who will accompany you for the duration of your time in Scotland.  From Inverness Airport, board a helicopter for the thirty-minute transfer to Kinloch Lodge, your home for the first three evenings.

Once the private Lodge of the Duke of Sutherland, Kinloch Lodge is a beautiful retreat from the modern world. Contemporary Scandi-style interiors combine with uniquely Scottish details to re-invent the Highland stay for discerning modern travellers.

Following a warm welcome, take to the water aboard a private RIB for an adventure along the coast with Captain Montgomery at the helm. Experience the speed and thrill of this amazing trip out through the Kyle of Tongue, see the white sandy beaches of Rabbit Island and around Whiten Head, a towering white headland on the North coast of Sutherland between Loch Eriboll and Tongue Bay.  Rising steeply from the sea to heights of 935 feet, its base is hollowed out by the waves forming a multitude of remarkable caverns.

Day Two: A Highland Adventure Part I

The Kinloch Estate extends thousands of acres and occupies an area renowned for its wild beauty.

You may wish to spend the day fishing, accompanied by a local ghillie. Options include salmon and sea trout fishing on the Kinloch River, and trout fishing on the hill lochs.

Alternatively, you may prefer to simply take a boat trip to one of the remote islands close to estate for a relaxed picnic lunch.

Later, return to the lodge for a tutored whisky tasting. The spirit has been lovingly crafted in Scotland for generation, offering a true taste of Scottish heritage and culture.

This evening you will be driven to a remote bothy for a private BBQ dinner of local food and entertainment.

Day Three: Highland Adventure - Part II

Accompanied by your chauffeur-guides and a local hiking guide, spend the day exploring the wilderness that is Sutherland by car and on foot.

Your guide will make all the difference: with their experience and unique local knowledge, they will be able to take you off the beaten track and into some very special places where all you will have to do is stand back and take in the stunning views.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Kinloch Lodge for time at leisure.

This evening a wonderful Scottish dinner will be hosted in the Lodge. A fitting finale to your time in this enchanting part of the country.

Day Four: Corrour Estate

Late morning, depart the very north of Scotland and travel by helicopter to the amazing Corrour Estate (50-minute flight).

Sitting within 70,000 acres of conserved wilderness, Corrour provides an unparalleled opportunity to experience the Highlands. Built on the site of the original 1942 traditional lodge, the construction of the incredible new contemporary Lodge was completed in 2003.

If you are looking for peace and quiet, then Corrour is the place to be. The Lodge is set in the heart of the estate, at the end of Loch Ossian. The closest public road is 11-miles away.

This afternoon, explore the lodge and the surrounding land before enjoying drinks in the drawing room. To follow, a casual and relaxed dinner will be served in the kitchen this evening.

Enjoy the silence and look forward to a day in the wilderness tomorrow.

Day Five: A Wilderness Adventure - Part I

The day will be spent on Corrour Estate, allowing you the opportunity to unwind and experience the Scottish wilderness at its most spectacular.

Should you wish to explore on foot, the walking opportunities are endless and offer breath-taking and uninterrupted views.

Perhaps enjoy a peaceful exploration of Loch Ossian by canoe or rowing boat or try clay pigeon shooting. There is also the opportunity to try your hand at fishing on a wonderful hidden hill loch or stalking.

Lunch today will be at Corrour Station which is a few miles from the Lodge and connects guests directly to London via the Caledonian Sleeper Train.

It is a wonderful walk back to the Lodge from the Station house or you may prefer to jump into one of the 4×4’s that will be on hand.

Day Six: A Wilderness Adventure - Part II

Today, continue to relax in the peaceful setting of Corrour and enjoy the activities on hand at the Lodge.

Alternatively, if you are looking for more action and adventure it is possible to venture further afield (approximately one-hour drive from the Lodge) and try your hand at white water rafting, canyoning and gorge walking. For any keen cyclists, there are mountain bike trails in Laggan Forest and the Nevis Range.

Dinner this evening will be at Corrour Lodge.

Day Seven: Gleneagles

Depart Corrour Lodge this morning and travel to Perthshire with your chauffeur-guides.

You may wish to stop at the House of Bruar for a light lunch and some high-end shopping. Known as the Harrods of the North, it is the ideal place to purchase gifts, and the finest traditional Scottish food and drink. Continue to the world-renowned Gleneagles resort.

When Gleneagles first opened its doors in 1924, it was quickly dubbed, “The Playground of the Gods”. Today, its claim to that title is undiminished: experience for yourself the divine setting, dining and facilities of the hotel. As the saying goes, “There are many beautiful places in the world. There are many great hotels. There are many famous golf courses and resorts. There is only one Gleneagles”.

The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure, making use of the incredible activities and facilities at Gleneagles.

Begin the evening with drinks in the opulent American Bar followed by fine dining in the Strathearn restaurant.

The Strathearn’s traditional walnut gueridon trolleys, silver cloches and butler trays deliver the touch of a bygone era, while a setting of elegant grandeur reflects the essence of Gleneagles glamour.

Day Eight: Broomhall House and Gleneagles Activites

This morning, visit Broomhall House, the ancestral seat of the Earls of Elgin and the Fife home of the family of King Robert the Bruce. For the first time since it was built more than 300 years ago it has opened its doors.

A privately guided tour conducted by Lord Bruce, the heir of the 11th Earl of Elgin, will showcase this remarkable and fascinating property and bring his extraordinary family history to life. As you enter the hall, some say it rivals walking into the British Museum with casts of the Elgin marbles lining the wall and a Roman sarcophagus standing by the fireplace.

Return to Gleneagles where the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure.

Gleneagles is renowned for offering some of the best country pursuits and leisure activities in the country, and there is something to suit every preference and interest.

For animal lovers, perhaps experience falconry – the sport of kings – or put Gleneagles’ impeccably trained Labradors through their paces at the Gundog School. The Equestrian School provides expert instruction for beginners, while experienced riders may wish to enjoy a trail ride in the peaceful surrounding countryside. If you are in search of relaxation, The Spa at Gleneagles by ESPA, one of the Leading Spas of the World, ensures every aspect of the unique and tranquil space enhances your therapeutic treatments.

This evening, dine among treasures in The Cellars, an intimate, atmospheric room, where the hotel once received its wines by rail from all over Europe – you can still see the original railway bays. Home to The Sommelier’s Table and 17,000 bottles of wine, you will be introduced to some of the cellar’s hidden gems – perfect for choosing a vintage to pair with your meal.

Day Nine: Homeward Bound

Your chauffeur-guides will provide transfers to Edinburgh Airport where you will board flights for onward travel.

PLACES VISITED

THE HIGHLANDS

The Highlands very much embody the romance of Scotland; they really are the Scotland of your imagination, a beautiful and inspiring region of ancient landscapes with a fascinating history. Spend the day exploring with your chauffeur-guide. There is a wealth of places to visit

INVERNESS

Despite being the largest city in the north, Inverness is more like a town in the atmosphere. The red sandstone exterior of Inverness castle, perched above the city centre, keeps a watchful eye over the region.

GLENEAGLES

Described as “a Riviera of the Highlands” when it first opened its doors in 1924. Today, its reputation for luxury is undiminished and offers sumptuous accommodation, impeccable service, Michelin-starred dining, and Championship parkland courses. Handicap not required on the King’s and Queen’s Courses.

CORROUR ESTATE

Sitting on 57,000 acres of conserved wilderness, Corrour provides an unparalleled opportunity to experience the Highlands. Built on the site of the original 1942 lodge, the construction of the new Lodge was completed in 2003. While the crisp geometric lines evoke a modern feel, the lodge is reminiscent of a traditional grand Scottish estate.
