Dream Escape specialise in authentic adventures exploring the true heart of our destinations. By experiencing genuine local people passionate about their way of life, your clients will leave with unforgettable memories, and a true sense of place as well as a deeper appreciation of the UK and Ireland, its culture and heritage.

On the Farm in Ireland

Emer spent a wonderful day at a traditional Buffalo farm where she met Ireland’s only Buffalo Dairy Herd and Farmer, Johnny Lynch. After wandering the pastures, she discovered how Mozzarella cheese is produced by the Sustainable Slow Food Movement, visited the Milking parlour and the on-site Mozzarella cheese dairy also enjoying a delicious tasting of the cheese which is handmade each morning.

The sheepdog is an integral part of farming culture in Ireland. See these impeccably trained dogs respond to whistles and work the cattle and sheep in the unique Burren landscape with a private demonstration. Visit the largest sheep farm on the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way. Get involved in traditional Irish activities such as Turf cutting and a hearty session of Trad music with Flutes and Tin whistles and try your hand at learning the technique of playing the Celtic Bodhran. Take the opportunity to see a 200 year old spinning wheel in action and learn how to make the ‘best scones’ in Ireland  and enjoy a guided historical walk around 5th Century ring fort.

In Northern Ireland experience the chance to be welcomed on to a genuine Irish working farm with a 4th generation sheep farmer. Take in the stunning panoramas down to Lough Neagh and Slemish Mountain where Saint Patrick is said to have shepherded as a young man! With sheep, lambs, poultry and ever present puppies and unique flora and fauna, this is a truly wonderful way to be part of an authentic Irish experience.

Scotland

Enjoy an  encounter with gorgeous Highland Cattle. With their fluffy hair and long horns, the coo’s are a true icon of Scotland as well as a great ‘insta’ opportunity! Meet the farm’s owners, and visit their Stud to meet the Clydesdale horses, instantly recognisable by the long hair that grows down each leg. The stud is home to four of these gentle giants who all love to display their personalities during both work and play.

Journey into the rolling Perthshire countryside to a nearby organic farm to gain an insight into the local food scene. Meet your hosts and explore the farm and all its furry inhabitants including the famed Aberdeen Angus cow. Younger members of the family relish the chance to get their hands dirty by heading out with a spade to learn all about soil; what’s in it, why the farm nurtures it and how they look after it. Alternatively, don your aprons and design your own burger using a range of fresh, mouth-watering ingredients local to the farm!

England

Explore the beautiful countryside of England’s Lake District with one of Britain’s most successful sheepdog handlers and the first woman to win the prestigious ‘One Man and His Dog’ competition for a day of shepherding. Follow with a traditional Fell Pony Adventure following part of an old pack horse route through meadows, woods and fells. Make friends with your native pack pony who will transport everything needed for the day including lunch which is cooked on a charcoal fire and enjoyed against a backdrop of breathtaking views across Cumbria and the Lakeland Fells. See below our Head of Marketing, Sue Morris, last month with owner Tom Lloyd and one of his trusted ponies, Fairmile.

One of the highest remote hill farms in the England is home to the Yorkshire Shepherdess; 2000 acres, 1000 sheep, 40 cows, 6 dogs, 4 ponies plus 2 best selling books make her a truly fascinating insight into a traditional farming lifestyle. Visit for an afternoon tea on the farm and a sheep herding experience.
