Wilderness Reserve is an 8000-acre estate of woodland, lakes and rolling pasture, sprinkled with an eclectic collection of historic and traditional Suffolk properties. Lovingly restored by artisans, each home has unique character. From the grand Grade II listed manor house and restored 15th century barn, to charming, thatched cottages and romantic retreats, Wilderness Reserve is a long-term conservation and restoration project – protecting English nature and breathing new life into historic properties. It is unlike anything or any place you’ve ever been before.

OVERVIEW

This rural estate is a stunning backdrop for a variety of beautiful homes. It is also an 8000-acre playground full of amazing experiences with over 40 unique activities that make the most of open spaces, lakes and woodland.

ACCOMMODATION

  • 15th CENTURY THATCHED BARN AND COURTYARD

Chapel Barn is the perfect place to bring together friends, family or collegaues when the occasion demands somewhere and something very large. It features floor – to – ceiling windows leading onto an enclosed outdoor grassed courtyard, making it ideal for entertaining and al fresco dining. (17 bed, sleeps 38)

 

  • 19th CENTURY GEORGIAN MANOR HOUSE

Built in the early 19th century (1840) and now painstakingly restored and authentically furnished, Sibton Park is a stunning venue with orangery and commercial kitchen. The formality of the ground floor reception rooms contrasts with the modern-day party pad that lives in the basement. (13 bedrooms, sleeps 27)

 

  • AUTHENTIC WALLES GARDEN AND INDULGENT LUXURY RETREAT

Originally created to grow the estate’s fruit, and veg and flowers, The Walled Garden is now itself a vital ingredient for those in pursuit of self contained very private pleasure. Formal lawns and flowerbeds remain but with an added luxurious glazed retreat down the entire length of the garden’s north wall. (8 bedrooms, sleeps 16)

 

  • BEAUTIFUL TRADITIONAL SUFFOLK FARMHOUSE

The Grange is a generously proportioned, seven bedroom farmhouse with open living and dining areas, private outdoor pool, open fire, hot tub, treatment room, steam and sauna. (7 bedrooms, sleeps 14)

Have the Estate Kitchen chefs come to your house and indulge your friends and family in a fresh seasonal private menu of your choice. From a relaxed BBQ or grazing menu to formal 3 course dinner served with canapes.

 

  • DELIVERED TO YOU

Have the Wilderness Reserve team prepare something special to greet you and your guests on arrival or to be delivered during your stay; nothing beats the addition of a special hamper brimming with treats to enhance the day. The chefs have been busy too, perfecting drop off versions of our menus, all pre-prepared and delivered with finishing instructions for you to enjoy at your leisure.

 

  • FIRE FEAST

Dine under the ancient woodland tree canopies with an unforgettable dining experience. The Wilderness team will escort you along the leafy pathways ever deeper into the woodland until the smell of roasting food fills the air. Then gather round the bonfire with something nice to drink in one hand and tasty flame grilled food in the other.

ACTIVITIES

Wilderness Reserve is dedicated to nature and the outdoors and while every need is catered for inside the lovingly restored houses, guests are encouraged to get out and explore the landscape around them. From trail walks and tennis to Pashley bike and row boat journeys, take the opportunity to investigate the full range of the Wilderness landscape at leisure.

 

TARGET SPORTS

No country estate would be complete without the opportunity to challenge yourself and your guests with some organised target shooting and Wilderness Reserve is no exception.  In addition to clay pigeon and laser clay shooting, join the Wilderness rangers to test your hand and skill at axe throwing and traditional archery, or compete against your friends on the range with our high powered air rifles.

 

SPEND TIME WITH THE RANGERS

The expert team of Wilderness Reserve rangers, led by ‘Chuck’ are adept in all aspects of outdoor life. They can lead and guide you through the bustling dawn wildlife, the estate’s extensive and ongoing tree planting programme, expand your forestry and survival knowledge, enthral your children at a wild adventure camp, help you fine tune your target sports skills, whittle a spoon or help you control and manage your body during a cold water swim. Just remember these are outdoor folk, they’re not like you and I!

 

ON THE WATER

Serpentine lakes, natural rivers, moats and water meadows are all prominent features of the Wilderness Reserve landscape and we love them. Open water swimming has risen hugely in popularity in recent years and we understand why. So whether its a gentile row, raft building or paddle boarding, it is all covered on the estate, and if that’s not enough we’re only a stone’s throw from the sea.

 

SPECIAL OCCASION

Sometimes the occasion deserves a little extra theatre. Further enhance an exclusive fire feast with a show from a fire performer or acoustic musicians, have a story teller enchant your group around the bonfire, turn a three course meal on its head with a tailored murder mystery evening, or just enjoy some some exceptional sommelier guided wine tasting.
